It started in the Rockies
My climbing story started years ago, on my first trip to the Canadian Rockies. I remember seeing people climbing in Lake Louise and being completely drawn to it. There was something about climbing outside, surrounded by the mountains, that stayed with me.
When I got home, I started climbing — a lot. For a while, I was climbing around five times a week, and I eventually got a job working in a climbing gym. I spent the next couple of years training, climbing, and learning more about the sport and the community around it.
Eventually, I decided I didn't just want to visit the Rockies. I wanted to make it my home.
I moved back to the Rockies, and I've been climbing ever since.
These days, life is a little different. Having kids doesn't leave quite as much time for climbing as it used to, but climbing has never really left my life. I've always kept a home climbing wall, and I've continued to find ways to climb, train, and experiment with new ideas.
From climbing to creating
Crag Creation grew from that same passion for climbing and my interest in creating things. With 3D printing, I found a way to design climbing holds that could be different from the usual shapes and bring some of the character of real rock onto a home wall.
Many of my designs are inspired by natural rock formations and places I've encountered through climbing and travelling. I enjoy looking at the shapes, edges, textures, and features found in real rock and trying to turn those ideas into something you can actually climb on.
The goal isn't simply to make another climbing hold. It's to create holds that feel interesting, look different, and make your home wall more enjoyable to climb.
Designed to be climbed
Crag Creation holds are made for climbers. I spend a lot of time experimenting with shapes, textures, materials, and printing techniques to find the right balance between feel, durability, and performance.
And there's one thing I always recommend: use chalk.
The texture and feel of these holds really come to life when they're used with climbing chalk. Chalk helps provide the friction you need while climbing and allows you to get the most out of the surface texture of the holds.
Whether you're building your first home wall, adding new movement to an existing wall, or simply looking for something different to climb on, Crag Creation is about bringing a little bit of the outdoor climbing experience home.
Made by a climber, inspired by rock, and created for climbing.
